I was born in Edinburgh, and graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2009 with a BSc in Mathematical Physics. I moved to Imperial College London and completed a Masters in 2010 (Bioinformatics and Theoretical Systems Biology), and a PhD in 2014 (thesis: Modelling haematopoietic stem cells in their niche [British English upheld]). Subsequently I held postdoctoral positions in the Theoretical Systems Biology group (then at Imperial) and the Mathematical Institute at the University of Oxford, before moving to California in 2016. Here I spent two years as a postdoc at the University of California, Irvine, in the Dept. of Mathematics, before joining the Department of Quantitative and Computational Biology in Dornsife at USC.
