Research Interests
I am interested in how cells decide what to become, and how those decisions change over time. Using single-cell multiomics, I study how transcriptional and epigenomic programs are coordinated within individual cells, and how that coordination shifts with aging and with environmental perturbations. Much of my work involves integrating information across modalities to reconstruct differentiation trajectories and identify the regulatory changes underlying altered cell fate. Alongside this, I am interested in developing computational methods on multi-modal single-cell data.
How I Got Into Science
I started at the bench, running experiments as an undergraduate. But the part I kept thinking about was what came after — sitting with the data and figuring out what it was actually saying. Over time I moved from generating data to analyzing it, and then to questions I could only answer computationally. The topics have changed a lot since; the appeal hasn’t. Biological data is messy, and finding real structure in that mess is what keeps me here.
